Why I Write

James Wood wrote “Literature makes us better noticers of life.” This, in a nutshell, is why I write and what I try to do with my words.

Quite simply, I want to notice — to notice the world around me, and, most importantly, to notice my fellow human beings. I believe that every life is worthy of attention, and I try, through my words, to give voice to the people that too often get overlooked, if not outright condemned, by society. I am not there to judge, nor do I wish to make excuses for anyone. Rather, my goal is to see others and to portray them in the fullness of their humanity, so that my readers—so that you—may see them too.

Whether or not I accomplish this goal is not for me to judge, and I invite you to read my work and decide for yourself.
